Why is there a space between the bottom of the trap door and the bottom of the trap? - Every trap we sell now has this feature. Roosters and Chickens are unable to get out, however cats are able to escape using this space.
How do I arrange shipping to islands other than Kauai, Hawaii? - All traps are shipped C.O.D. from Kauai's Nawiliwili Port via Young Brother Freight Company (average C.O.D $29.00). When your trap is ready to be picked up at your port, you will recieve a call from your islands Young Brothers port immediately upon arrival for pickup. Delivery to your door step can be arranged, however this method is pricy and is in addition to port charges (please call 808-346-1895 for dorrstep delivery arrangements).
Can I keep my Rooster Trap™ outside all of the time? - Yes, but if you won't be using it for more than 2 or more months, cover it or bring it inside.
What bait should I use with my Rooster Trap™? - What ever the roosters are eating around your house. Dry cat food works really well.
How to catch chickens and roosters?
Most chickens and roosters will go in our traps immediately upon sensing good bait, however a few are more difficult to catch. When you first put your chicken trap out, make sure to bait the front of the trap first near the door. This will build trust with the more discernible critter for the next day he wobbles through your yard in route to irritate. Without a doubt, you will catch even the most cautious chickens and roosters. Our customers are full of success stories!
Should I cover my Rooster Trap™ when the trigger is set to catch? - Most of the time setting one of these out in broad daylight with nothing around them will stll catch Roosters. Experiment with potted plants to the sides or plywood laid on top of the trap with flowers or something on top. This will ensure the wool is pulled directly over the Roosters eyes.
What do I do with my Rooster Traps™ once they are full of roosters and chickens? - Contact your local humane society for information. The staff at www.RoosterTraps.com encourages responsible and humane care of each and every catch.
