www.RoosterTraps.com, started in August 2008, is one of many growing small businesses ran by Natasha & Branden Shumate, (B) from Kauai. This particular business is beginning to benefit the island. We're providing a solid product for residents, and we've made a handful of jobs for local residents at the same time, we feel good about it! www.RoosterTraps.com created a solution for a big problem and out of necessity it has began to grow. It's important for communities to support effective and humane solutions to critical animal over population issues. The support of bigger businesses regognizing our traps as a solid local product has been a big help since we started. Kauai's wild chicken & rooster population is out of control, we all know that. We hope that people will hear about us so they know there is finally something they can do about the insanity this problem has brought to many home and business owners. It's not surprising that more and more people are loosing sleep over this issue because the State and County offer no help or responsible control in this area (it can be done). Unfortunately, this problem has become a health issue for 1000's of residents. Some of our recent calls from customers are a testament to the level of frustration people are experiencing, these people are at their wits end. We hear stories of people tripping out into their yards at 5:00am in the morning firing pellet guns and throwing rocks, it is amazing the County/State has done nothing to curb the problem.

It's important to understand that we are only talking about wild chickens and roosters here. We understand that some people love and care for these animals as pets. As a meassure of common courtesy, pet owners should be sure that during night time hours that their critters shelters are covered to block any light from entering until morning. This will cut down on the level of noise for their neighbors. Overall, I think it is important for the State to realize that we have a real problem on our hands even for our tourist industry

Residents now have a place to turn to for relief in this area when before there wasn't.
